If you’ve ever stopped by Willow Greenhouse, you probably already know that we’re a little different from your typical garden center. Sure, we have plants—lots of them. But Willow is about so much more than what’s growing in our greenhouses.
We’re a family-owned, year-round greenhouse and garden center in Michigan, and at the heart of everything we do is a simple idea: we want people to have fun with plants.
Whether you’re a lifelong gardener who knows exactly what you’re looking for, a first-time plant parent who has absolutely no idea where to start, or someone who just likes wandering through a greenhouse and seeing what’s new, there’s a place for you here.
Willow Greenhouse started with a love for plants, but it has grown into something much bigger. Today, we’re a team of plant lovers, gardeners, creatives, problem-solvers, event planners, and people who genuinely enjoy helping others make their spaces a little more beautiful.
We carry a wide variety of annuals, perennials, native plants, trees, shrubs, houseplants, succulents, seasonal plants, and plenty of those “I definitely don’t need another plant…but I’m taking it home anyway” finds.
We also love the unusual. We grow rare and uncommon houseplants through tissue culture, giving plant collectors and enthusiasts the opportunity to find something a little different. If you’re looking for that one plant you’ve never seen before, there’s a good chance we’ve either got it—or we’re trying to grow it.
But plants are only part of the Willow experience.
One of the things we love most about being a year-round greenhouse is that there’s always something happening.
Spring means greenhouses bursting with color, vegetable gardens getting started, and everyone suddenly remembering that this is the year they’re finally going to keep their garden organized.
Summer brings overflowing patio pots, pollinator-friendly plants, trees and shrubs, houseplants, and plenty of time spent enjoying the outdoors.
Then comes fall—and if you’ve been here during pumpkin season, you know things get a little magical around here. Pumpkins, fall décor, mums, workshops, markets, and everything you need to turn your porch into your favorite place to be.
And when winter arrives, we’re not packing things away. We’re bringing in fresh-cut Christmas trees, seasonal décor, winter patio pots, and plenty of ways to keep growing when the weather outside says otherwise.
There’s always a reason to stop by Willow.
Gardening can sometimes feel intimidating. There are endless rules, Latin names, planting requirements, fertilizer schedules, and conflicting advice about what you should be doing.
We’re here to make it a little less complicated.
You don’t have to know the difference between every perennial and annual. You don’t have to have a perfectly designed garden. You don’t need a huge backyard. And you definitely don’t need to be an expert.
We’re happy to answer questions, help you choose the right plant, talk through what’s happening in your garden, or simply walk around and admire plants with you.
Our goal is to help you find plants that work for you, your space, and your lifestyle—not just sell you something that looks pretty on the shelf.
We’re also proud of the way we grow.
At Willow, we take a pesticide-free approach and use beneficial insects as part of our growing practices. Instead of reaching for traditional pesticides as the first solution, we work with nature to create a healthier growing environment.
It’s something we’re passionate about, and it’s one of the many things that makes Willow special to us.
We love plants, but we also love the little things that make a garden an ecosystem— pollinators buzzing around flowers, beneficial insects doing their jobs, birds visiting the garden, and all of the tiny pieces that work together behind the scenes.
If you’ve followed us for a while, you’ve probably noticed that we’re not just a place to shop for plants.
We host workshops, seasonal events, vendor markets, family-friendly activities, and plenty of opportunities to get creative.
From succulent pumpkins and planted pots to seasonal workshops and community markets, we love creating experiences that bring people together.
Our greenhouse has even become a place for private events and celebrations. We have a 30-by-100-foot covered, lighted greenhouse space that can be heated during the winter and comfortably ventilated during the warmer months.
Basically, if there’s a way to combine plants, people, creativity, and a good time, we’re probably interested.
Of course, no Willow introduction would be complete without mentioning our resident pest management team.
Midnight and Twinkletoes are two of our greenhouse cats, and while their official job description is “pest management,” they take their responsibilities pretty loosely.
Midnight came to us pregnant after living on the streets. Two of her kittens went home with our owner, Nick, another went home with a former employee, and one little kitten decided that Willow was home.
That kitten was Twinkletoes.
Today, the two of them can usually be found wandering around the property, supervising employees, inspecting plants, and occasionally reminding customers that the greenhouse is, in fact, their kingdom.
We wouldn’t have it any other way.
Willow has continued to evolve, too. Our greenhouse and garden center have grown, our team has grown, and our offerings and events continue to grow right alongside our community.
And while we’re excited about everything happening at Willow, we never want to lose sight of what brought us here in the first place.
People. Plants. Community.
That’s really what Willow is all about.
We want to be the place you visit when you’re looking for the perfect plant, the place you bring a friend when you want to spend an afternoon wandering through the greenhouse, the place you come when you need gardening advice, and the place you return to season after season because it feels a little bit like home.
So whether you’re here for a six-pack of annuals, a 20-year-old shade tree, a rare houseplant, a pumpkin for the front porch, a Christmas tree, a workshop, an event—or just to see what’s new—we’re glad you’re here.
Welcome to Willow. We’re so happy you’re growing with us.
